This template is used to populate the Device Infobox with information about an IDE controller card. See AB-862G Super I∕O Card for example use. As this template sits inside an infobox, it can be combined with other templates in the case of multi-function devices.

Valid parameters and examples specific to this infobox are:

Parameter Meaning
Floppy buses = Value Number of floppy buses that are available on the device. Each bus typically supports the connection of up to two drives, but it is possible to connect up to four drives to a single bus.
  • 0 if none
  • 1 if only one bus (2 or 4 drives max)
  • 2 for a card with a primary and secondary bus (4 or 8 drives max), etc.
Drives per bus = Value Number of drives that can be attached to each floppy bus. Typically this is only two drives, however some controllers exist where up to four drives can be attached to each bus. In those cases, either a custom Shugart-style cable is used with five connectors on it (one for each drive and one for the controller), or the controller has two connectors on it and standard PC cabling is used to connect two drives to each connector.

Be aware of the difference between a single floppy bus that supports up to four drives, or two floppy buses that support only two drives each. Both options will allow four drives to coexist in a system but work in different ways. Especially if a controller has two floppy drive connectors on it, pay special attention to whether these are attached to the same 4-drive bus, or whether they appear as two separate 2-drive buses.

Secondary = Value Boolean value indicating whether the device can be configured to become the secondary floppy controller.

Y means yes, the controller can coexist with a primary floppy controller and add additional drives to the system beyond the original two or four provided by the primary controller. N means the device can only operate as the primary floppy controller in the system.

ROM type = Value Text value for the type of ROM/EEPROM/Flash chip. One of:
  • None - no ROM chip is present
  • 28-pin JEDEC - standard byte-wide 28-pin ROM/PROM
  • 32-pin JEDEC - standard 32-pin EEPROM/flash chip
  • PLCC32 - 32-pin PLCC flash chip
  • TSOP40 - 40-pin TSOP package, usually flash memory

Add others to this list as needed - try to be as generic as possible, avoiding part names and using interface names instead.

Default values are shown if the parameter is omitted, so do not use any parameters unless the value is known (most of the defaults say "unknown").
