NuXT Motherboard (v1.0)

The NuXT is an 8088 class motherboard built using a mixture of new and original components.

It is based on schematics by Sergey Kiselev and manufactured by Monotech PCs.

It allows native 8088 operation while supporting newer interfaces such as ATX, VGA & CF Card

    • up to 160K UMBs (128K max when using VGA)
    • Configured DOS 6.22 uses only 10K conventional!

  • HD Floppy controller, with FM support
  • Bootable CF Card Interface - 64MB CF Card Included! Loaded with DOS and ready to go.
  • ROM Socket, supporting 8K and 32K ROMs, writable
  • 16C550 Serial Port
  • PS/2 Keyboard Port
  • ATX Power Input. Generates own -5V
  • 4 x 8-bit ISA Slots
  • Front-panel connector for modern cases
  • Highly configurable via DIP switches. All onboard peripherals can be disabled

Version 1.0

Version 1.1

Changes from Version 1.0 include:

  • VGA disable fixed
  • Floppy disable fixed
  • Serial circuitry moved to improve reliability
  • Re-arranged board to allow 16-bit cards in 3 of the 4 slots instead of 1 of the 4

Version 1.2

Changes from Version 1.1 include:

  • Black PCB
  • Memory address decoder SPLD replaced with discrete logic.
  • More documentation text on the back
  • Changed to 4-layer PCB to make routing easier.
  • moved RS232 transceiver next to the UART, and routed to the serial port all 9 wires including GND, alone as if it was a serial cable.

Version 2.0

Changes:

  • Added real-time clock
  • Added PS/2 mouse port
  • Added Parallel port
  • Added IDE interface
  • Improved CF card compatibility
  • Added PC/104 platform
  • Onboard VGA is now an optional PC/104 card. The VGA port still remains in the I/O area.
  • Removed extra Option ROM socket
  • Slightly improved onboard speaker
